CHEF JING NG

Born and raised in Singapore, Chef Jing Ng moved to New York City in 2017, building a career defined as much by drive as by skill. She began cooking at 16 with a part-time pastry position at the St. Regis Hotel in Singapore. She quickly realized she had a knack for the kitchen and transitioned from pastry to savory. Chef Jing went on to earn a bachelor's degree in culinary arts management from the Culinary Institute of America in Singapore.

Chef Jing's career has spanned impressive kitchens in both Singapore and New York. She worked at The Modern (2 Michelin Stars) in New York—beginning as an intern and working her way up to Chef de Partie. In 2020, she returned home to Singapore and joined Restaurant Zen as chef de partie, absorbing its Scandinavian-influenced style. Upon joining the restaurant, Zen was a 2-Star restaurant; Chef Jing was part of the team that attained the third star in 2021.

She then returned to New York to help reopen The Modern as Executive Sous Chef and then transitioned to Five Acres in Rockefeller Center. In October 2023, Chef Jing became Chef de Cuisine at Nōksu, earning a Michelin star within the restaurant's first year—a role she held for two and a half years before departing in March 2026.

Chef Jing describes her cooking as layered: intense, spice-driven flavors from Southeast Asia, China, and India, built on a foundation of modern French and Japanese technique, and presented with restraint and elegance. Chef Jing's food is ultimately contemporary, built around bold, sometimes unexpected ingredient pairings. Beyond her Michelin recognition, Chef Jing was recently featured in Apple TV's Knife's Edge, chronicling the journey to a Michelin star in New York.
